Plan in advance for the other dates of your graduate’s ceremonies.

Celebrating Your Graduate

You can order graduate gifts at the UC San Diego Bookstore, along with announcements, diploma frames and more. Pre-order flowers for ceremonies held the weekend of June 14-16 here.

Upon Arrival

There is no reserved seating. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis and is not guaranteed. Standing room may also be available.

During the Ceremonies

  • Most ceremonies will run about two hours.
  • Be prepared to stay for the duration of the ceremony as a courtesy to fellow graduates and guests.
  • Traffic around campus will be extremely heavy, so please plan to arrive early. This will allow time for parking, making your way to the venue entrance, security screening, and finding seating. Gates will open at least two hours prior to All Campus Commencement, one hour prior to each college ceremony, and 30 minutes prior to each Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs, Rady School of Management, or School of Global Policy and Strategy ceremony. Keep in mind, traffic will be heavy leaving campus after the ceremonies as well. Please plan for additional time to depart.
  • Outside beverages will be prohibited.
  • Complimentary water will be available. Please bring your own empty reusable water bottle. Make sure to review Commencement 2024 transportation and security for additional details and a list of prohibited items.
  • For guests who are unable to join in-person ceremonies occurring on June 14-16, a livestream of the undergraduate college, Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs, and professional school commencement ceremonies will be broadcast on this website at the scheduled date and time of your graduate’s ceremony.
